THE MAGIC OF THE WINTER HOLIDAYS CONTINUES IN CISMIGIU GARDENS

18.12.2009

There are only six days left, between December18th and 23rd, when children and grown-ups are expected to enjoy the magic of winter in Cismigiu Gardens during the event entitled I Believe in Santa Claus!, organized by Bucharest City Hall through ArCuB, the Center for Cultural Projects. Encouraged by snow flakes, the carol singers – theatre troupes, lay and religious choruses, solo singers and popular bands – will revive the spirit of the Feast of the Nativity.

The park alleys will be animated by fairy tale characters, in a scenery designed by scenographer Dragoş Buhagiar. The first step to a fairy world is right at the entrance into the park, where the twenty-metre-high nicely decorated Christmas tree welcomes everyone.

Santa’s Sledge and the Manger of Nativity are special places that kids should not miss. In Santa’s House, arranged in the Kiosk, they will feel the joy of meeting the good and beloved Santa Claus.

The much awaited Christmas Fair, one of the reference points of the event, is open daily between 10.00 and 20.00.

Thirty five booths especially arranged for this purpose are waiting for their guests with season goodies and souvenirs.

Starting with Saturday, December 19th, every day for the remaining period you will enjoy one pleasant surprise: carriage rides in the park between 11.00 and 14.00.

The artistic program is structured as follows: in the morning, starting with 11.00, children will enjoy shows full of merriment: dance, music and magic. In the evening, between 18.30 and 22.00, carol concerts held by important solo singers and bands of the moment, as well as performances given by folkloric groups and choruses will take place on the stage.

Today, starting with 17:50, after an enthusiastic opening provided by several choruses, bands and singers such as Trupa Veche, Mircea Baniciu and Vladi Cnejevici, El Negro and Bere Gratis will come on the stage.

In the mornings of Saturday and Sunday, starting with 11:00, children can enjoy an interactive programme with theatre shows, dance, music and magic. Together with the beloved fairy tale characters, ‘Ion Creanga’ Theatre and groups and bands that are already known by the little ones are ready to sing and dance for them.

In the evenings of this weekend, the people of Bucharest will enjoy performances of choruses and recitals of beloved artists: Artanu, Dana Bartzer, Silvia Dumitrescu, Dan Creimerman, VH2, Analia Selis, Mircea Vintilă with the band Brambura, Brass Quintet, Maria Buză and Proconsul.

For the last three days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we will also have a programme for children around noon and in the evenings we will welcome Silviu Biriş, Nicola, Narcisa Suciu, Ducu Bertzi and Mihai Neniţă, Acapella Vocal Group, Paula Seling, Andra and Ştefan Hruşcă on the stage.
